Charakterystyka Rośliny
Tawułki to rośliny wieloletnie z silnymi kłączami, czasami z rozłogami. Liście pierzasto złożone, rzadko pojedyncze, ciemnozielone, brązowo-zielone lub wielokolorowe, matowe lub błyszczące w zależności od gatunku i odmiany. Rośliny różnią się wysokością od 25 cm (Astilbe chinensis var. pumila) do 100 cm (różne odmiany Astilbe x arendsii). Kwiaty zebrane są w gęste wiechy, o bocznych nieco wygiętych rozgałęzieniach (w zależności od odmiany mogą być białe, kremowe, różowe, czerwone). Tawułki różnią się terminem kwitnienia. Tawułki są cennymi, długowiecznymi roślinami, które zaleca się wysadzać na cienistych rabatach, pod drzewami, w pobliżu zbiorników i cieków wodnych tak, aby woda nie zalewała roślin. Świetnie nadają się do okrywania miejsc cienistych. Niższe odmiany nadają się do ogrodów skalnych i do okrywania miejsc cienistych. Można uprawiać je na kwiat cięty, ale kwiaty nie są zbyt trwałe. Doskonale nadają się do uprawy w pojemnikach.
